Introduction to Full Time Truck Camping

My wife of 31 years is blessed with the talent of writing and photography. She has documented all our trips since we started this journey.

From the Driver's Seat will cover how and why we got started on our journey. Future posts will include why we chose our truck camper and explain how we maintain our equipment.

We will take a deeper dive into truck camping full time, including propane refill, laundry, water, showers, storage, and even tire choice.

I realize everyone's journey and setup differ greatly. My mission is to share what works for us (after quite a bit of trial and error). We are still learning as we go. I hope this blog may be of some help to others who may want to hit the road and not look back!

Getting Started

In 2014 I began a new chapter. I wanted to see more of our beautiful country, so I decided to change my career. I found a company that delivers travel trailers from factories in Northern Indiana to all points in the country.  I really enjoyed this occupation. I delivered to numerous states across the country, but there were two main things that discouraged me from traveling far from home on a regular basis. First, I wanted to share my experiences with my wife. I found that I was bypassing all points of interest until they could be shared; thereby, staying on interstates to make an income. Second, the pull of getting home could be overwhelming. With both of my daughters and my wife at home, I felt I was missing out on our lives. Also, there was house maintenance, lawn mowing, and truck maintenance that had to be done. I found that instead of seeing the country, it was becoming a dedicated route between home and Indiana.

In 2024, with an empty nest, we decided on a radical change. My wife and I decided to deliver campers across the country together. We sold our house and put a camper on the back of our truck. And so it begins.
